Reminds me of the Holland Portugal match in 2006, another horrible game with the players just grinding the axe. Seems like the tactic that Holland uses to kill off creative and skillful teams. Shame, because they could play better than this crap.

Horrible refereeing! The referee was clearly out against Brazil from the start! Shame, because Holland had a good team, but this is like the match from hell. You could see even the crowd was getting involved against the Brazil players. Anyway, Brazil 5 times world champion, Holland none.

Nice! I think I agree with you that the “selecao” of 1958 was better than that of 1982. But I personally think 2002 doesn’t belong up there. Perhaps it ties with 1994, but no way better than the dream team of 1962 (Garrincha, Pele, Vava, Didi, Jair, Amarildo, Zagallo). Either way, Brazil is always Brazil; they are like the Rolex watches of football: fine-tuned, precision engineered football-playing machines. Have a good one my friend!!

The best football teams in history (in order):

    1. Brazil 1970

    3. Brazil 1962
    4. Brazil 1958
    5. Brazil 1994

Yeah… 1974 saw a huge decline in the quality of Brazilian football, especially considering in 1970 they not only won the cup but played the best football.

    Ola Cassiano
Obrigado para congratulation for Italy but…
    I’m not agree with you.
    In 1982 we were lucky.
If was possible repeat the match Italy-Brazil in 1982 WC,Brazil certainly would win nine times out of ten…
    Another planet team…football champagne with O Galinho&co.
The only brazilian player we had later was R.Baggio.
    Abraços.
Ps In november maybe i’ll be in Brazil

    Hey, raffaele1111
Italy 1978 and 1982, very, very good team! Deserved the won of a WC (1982)
Zoffi, Gentile, Paolo Rossi, Bruno Conti, Altobelli, and many other extra-class players…the coach Bearzot!
    Congratulations!
UM TIMAÇO, as we say in Brazil!

I’m an italian very fond of football.
2 are the teams that will be always in my heart.
The Holland&Ajax with my idol the great Cruyff with the born of modern football.
The other team played a fantastic football was the fantastic brazilian team in 1982.
Yes it’s true Italy won,but as lover of football i have to say Brazil was absolutely the best!
    What a team!!
    Zico,Falcao,Socrates,Cerezo,Junior
    Football champagne…

  19. November 28th, 2009 at 20:48 | #19

    Foul at 4:22

  20. November 30th, 2009 at 10:32 | #20

Unfortunately all of these great players was ruined by communist regime. Only player older than 30 could be transfered to other european club. I think Lato, Deyna and Lubanski were good enough to play in Real Madrid or Manchester United. Only Boniek was lucky, he went to Juventus.

  21. December 3rd, 2009 at 01:36 | #21

    Penalty at 3:51.

  22. December 5th, 2009 at 18:29 | #22

    Yeah, Poland great, gret team
Lato, Deyna, Tomaszewsky and many other greats
But, if you remember the first time of the 3rd place decision (won by Poland), Brazil was better…was the only moment in the WC that Zagalo put the extraclass Ademir da Guia to play…For the 2nd half, Zagalo retire Ademir da Guia of the game (as he made the intire WC) and Poland won, Lato’s goal!
    Congratulations, Poland!
    Well said, Marcinex22.

  23. December 8th, 2009 at 23:23 | #23

For me Poland deserves to be a World Champion in 1974 but it’s only my opinion.

  24. December 11th, 2009 at 14:43 | #24

By the way, red or yellow card gave in profusion to brazilians and other “things” during all game, the referee made his “service” (for Germany, the hosts of WC and more interesteds in the result of this match ), if you know what I mean…
By the way again, congratulations to Holland, a tremendous and legendary team! Brazil wasn’t in his maximum this WC:team would bet: Leão;Nelinho,Marinho,Luis Pereira,Marinho Chagas;Piazza,Ademir da Guia,Rivelino;Jairzinho,Leivinha,Edu.
    Blame Zagalo for loss!
