Thanks for uploading this video. WOW!!! Some of the old names I sure had forgotten. Like Brian McFarlane, Bob Goldham, Mickey Redmond, Red Storey, John Wells, John Garrett, John Davidson, Foster Hewitt and Bill Hewitt.

I know who they where I had just forgotten all the great staff that were on CBC. Back then people could speak there minds, like Howie Meeker and it was awesome.

    Thanks Youtube.

Lots of people were on HNIC over the years, I can remember Ted Darling being the Montreal host before becoming Mr. Buffalo. The Hewitts, Irvin, Cornell, Hodge, Meeker, Cole, Gallivan, McFarlane and all the rest, great montage, thanks for the memories!

Being a Habs hater, did you have to show Lafleur’s 1979 goal against Boston? :)

You sure can’t beat a powder blue jacket eh?
That was fun to watch and be reminded of what Hockey Night in Canada used to be like. Viewing this was like having a visit from some long lost friends.
    How nice!! :)

The solution is easy…boycott the CBC and start watching TSN and RDS. The CBC (Communist Broadcasting Corporation) can choke on their new “special olympics” sounding song. It’s annoying as hell after hearing it twice!!!

  8. March 20th, 2009 at 00:24 | #8

    They’re in Columbus.

    haha, just kidding.

I **** the CBC for dropping/selling/losing- the Canadian Anthem on Hockey Night in Canada. MOST Canadians Grew up hearing it every Saturday…like you….like me.
It is like selling out our National Anthem.
    I will not forget.
Count your money now CBC, play your New Song.
    Good Bye.

u got it … HNIC ***** … they even dump the anthem … no wonder we have no medals in Beijing.

Here here, NBC may have fancy graphics and more camera angles, but you can tell the CBC puts more passion into their coverage and does a much better job setting up the atmosphere of a game through pictures and sounds and making you feel as if you are in the arena.

Wow! Those are some killer ’staches back in the day

  25. April 23rd, 2009 at 12:25 | #25

Wow. Great video. HNIC was Monday Night/Sunday Night NFL football years before ABC & now NBC made it a must see for prime time.

I always felt the US stations such as NBC now the main over the air outlet should use CBC production and even announcers for NHL coverage.
